How Are Computers Recycled?
When Bluegrass E-Cycle receives a server or computer, the systems are quickly evaluated as to whether they are reusable or if they are scrap. If a computer is reusable, the hard drives are destroyed, and the unit is either donated or resold as a system or for parts.
If a computer is deemed scrap (which happens most of the time), the computers are de-manufactured, asset tags and any company logos are scrapped from the case, and the hard drives completely destroyed. Individual components are sorted and separated into various commodity levels and sent downstream to domestic partners for further processing.
